Wesley E. (Wes) Campbell has been involved in the Christian music industry for more than twenty-five years. Having discovered Aussie pop/rock band Newsboys in the mid-80’s, he was the driving force behind their first American record deal, and subsequent move to America, where he has served as their manager for over 20 years. His guiding hand has maintained their position as one of the genre’s most successful brands, navigating them through two lead singer changes, and the continuing evolution of the music business. Under Campbell’s guidance, the band has achieved record sales in excess of 8 million, including the highest debuting CCM album of 2010 on The Billboard 200 Chart, landing at #4. Along with 30 “Number One” radio singles, including 2010’s #1 Billboard Song of the Year ‘Born Again’, Newsboys has also garnered multiple Dove awards and Grammy nominations.
Throughout his career, many artists have chosen Campbell to serve as their manager, most notably Mat Kearney, who he steered through his first record deal and launch as a successful mainstream artist, and recently, Sparrow recording artist, Sanctus Real. Campbell has also served as Executive Producer for many musical artists, including the aforementioned Kearney, Superchic[k], and Tree63.
Campbell has also launched and managed several successful businesses including First Company Management, InPop Records and Creative Audio and Light. He owns or co-manages three of the largest contemporary Christian festivals in America, including Creation Festival East and West (www.creationfest.com) and Sonshine Festival (www.sonshinefestival.com). He developed and launched the concept of an inflatable 3,500-seat dome that has been used as an “instant theater” and the first traveling portable music festival venue that was featured on Festival con Dios, The Jessica Simpson Dreamchaser Tour and Marty Stuart’s Electric Barnyard Tour. Campbell also designs the ever-evolving and mechanically complex stage sets that draw sold-out crowds to every Newsboys show.
